At Dreamland

What did I do when I ventured to the American South, specifically Alabama?  I went in search of barbecue and sweet tea, and Dreamland fit the bill.  Up until then, I had never had sweet tea.  I liked it so much, my server took notice, and refilled my order a couple of times throughout my meal.  I also ordered the half slab of ribs, which was fresh from the pit and smothered with a juicy fierce sauce.  Getting sauce all over the place was probably a given, as the table was already equipped with a sizable paper towel roll.  In addition to that, my server gave me several individual towelettes.  For dessert, I ordered the banana pudding.  Doesn't it look dreamy?  I was pretty full already, but you know what they say about your stomach having a special area reserved for desserts.

Burrito with a Twist

Let us focus on this burrito, a la Señor Sisig.  This fusion food truck combines Filipino and Mexican-American flavors.  I ordered the pork "Señor" Sisig Burrito, and was plenty full till the next meal.   There is something unique about how the pork is seasoned, coupled with that cilantro cream sauce.  So delicious!  These pictures do not do it justice.  The long lines that often accompany this truck must mean I am not the only one who finds the food worth waiting for.

Chicken and Waffles

Top: Chaps

I make bucket lists for food, and Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles, was on said list for quite some time.  I finally made it there before a casual hike.  I had heard of long lines that resulted from the restaurant's popularity.  Luckily, I did not have to wait long to be seated.  I ordered the Country Boy, now known as "The Obama Special,"  which consisted of one waffle and three chicken wings.  The chicken wings were crisp, and the waffle was so light and fluffy.  My taste buds could not have been happier.  Oh, and by the way, I had enough energy to make it through my hike.

On a recent visit to Oceanside, California, I looked forward to listening to the ocean.  Sounds of the ocean put me at ease and all that mattered was the present moment.  The weather was perfect, and visiting the beach was a given.  I dipped my toes in the sand, walked along the water, and strolled the pier indefinitely.  While reading and relaxing at the house I stayed at, I spotted some dolphins splashing by, and of course became childishly giddy.  When each day of my stay was over, I was guaranteed that peaceful sleep awaited me.  A visit to this beautiful town is relaxing whether you travel solo or with others.  Thank you lovely Oceanside for all the happy memories.
